- By Nicholas Boer
It's fresher but perhaps less soulful than the original Le Cheval, whose Oakland home has a French colonial spirit. For a decade or two, I've been hearing good things about the food there, though I have never dined myself. That restaurant's reputation for fast, friendly service is fully realized in Walnut Creek. But I wonder if what seemed fresh and exciting in 1985 has become tired in the 21st century.
