Lionel Loueke Trio
Sunday, Jun 24, 2012 7:30p
Braun Music Center: Dinkelspiel Auditorium
Stanford,
CA
West African guitarist and vocalist Lionel Loueke has created a fresh new take on jazz, and he performs this evening with his trio. The sound of his trio, which includes Swedish-born bassist Massimo Biolcati and Hungarian drummer Ferenc Nemeth, is described by Time as “a jamboree of sprung rhythms, splashed with African and Brazilian flavors, in which Loueke scat-sings . . . and plays some wicked jazz.”
