Springtime Polyphony: Corpus Christi Mass

Circa 1600, Sonoma County’s premier early-music vocal ensemble, performs the Mass for the Feast of Corpus Christi (“Missa Pange lingua”) by Josquin des Prez and motets for Corpus Christi by William Byrd, as well as Gregorian chants. Des Prez and Byrd are universally recognized as two of the greatest composers of the Renaissance, with an unmatched ability to write intertwining vocal lines, also known as “polyphony.”
