In 1976, UC Berkeley Anthropologists determined that the first inhabitants of California occupied Ring Mountain in Corte Madera some 8,000-12,000 years ago. Their lives centered around their "God" (a now dormant volcano), fertility, and the strange creatures around them. These technologically advanced people recreated images of these forces on their tools made from stone, wood, pyroclasts, glass, and metal. Seventeen years of research and discovery have produced the largest collection of its kind.
All items in this exhibition were collected in Marin.
