Went for a dinner here with my friends and found the interior really cool. But we were really disappointed with the lousy food and crappy service. Dry bosco mare and overcooked shrimp was really a turn off. I doubt visiting here again.

I went for a dinner here with a coworker. Dinner for two with a shared meal was about $30 each. Food was terrible.

Terrible food with idiots offering crappy service. The quality of the filet left something to be desired, and the entrée was burned which ruined the dish altogether. Needless to say, I did not wait for the dessert.

Had been here with my boyfriend last week. No water on the table. Salty Dry stale bread. Food was dry. Prices unrealistic and quality rock bottom..

Very cool interior renovation. But you won’t go here once you taste the lousy food and crappy service.
"Chef" Judd Anthony need to re train.

Real nice decor and music. The salads were at best mediocre but the bread was just terrible. Our server could not make a decent wine recommendation. I seriously doubt we'll return to Vivere of San Mateo.

"Chef" Judd Anthony failed once again. It appears he is using cheap parmesean insted of the good stuff. The food was terrible. It took nearly 30 minutes for the food to order. What a joke.

Have been here last week and I must say the deco is nice and appealing but the food here really sucks and the service is lousy. Moreover, the owner is a complete joke and is clueless. So I advice you guys do not waste your time on this.

My friend and I had the chance to experience Vivere on B Street in downtown San Mateo last friday night. The building itself has been redesigned nicely and definently has an aire of sophistication and charm.
We were taken back by the stark contrast between the beautiful atmosphere and the culinary travesty that followed.
First of all, would the manager please remind the servers to pour me glass of water BEFORE serving me a basket of salty (and dry) bread? However,I was willing to look past this minor mistake to see what Vivere could serve up. We ordered Chef Judd Anthony's "signature dish" linguine bosco mare and the filet mignon with sauteed pancetta in a red wine sauce. We also shared a plate of gnocchi with a tomato basil sauce.
The linguine bosco mare was served with very little cream sauce and tasted very dry. The shrimp were alright, but if this is Judd Anthony's signature dish, we think maybe he should practice his skills before putting his name on it. The quality of the filet left something to be desired, and the pancetta in the red wine sauce was burned which ruined the dish altogether. As far as the gnocchi goes, it is painfully obvious just by the looks of it that it was frozen when we arrived, and simply thown on an expensive plate after we ordered. I happen to know that home made gnocchi don't all come out EXACTLY the same. The taste reflected our suspicions. Just terrible.
Needless to say, we didn't stick around for dessert. I would love to have something nice to say about Vivere besides the atmosphere, but sadly, I cannot. Furthermore, the prices they charge are astronomical when compared to the quality. We ended up with a check for like $70 for the two of us. Vivere has struck out big time with us.
