An exhilarating world-class production inspired by the rich spirit of traditional Chinese culture. Divine Performing Arts and its breathtaking beauty are not to be missed.
Divine Performing Arts 2009 World Tour Returns to San Francisco in January --
Chinese New Year Spectacular is an exhilarating world-class production that celebrates the pure excellence and grandeur of classical Chinese dance and music inspired by the myths, legends, and divine beauty of 5,000 years of traditional Chinese culture.
China was once known as "Shen Zhou" or "Land of the Divine," as people once believed Chinese culture to be a gift from the heavens. Virtue and piety were emphasized in daily life. Sadly, though, over time much of this great culture has been lost.
Divine Performing Arts Based in New York is reviving the long-lost treasures of China by presenting a series of original performances across the globe. Its shows transport audiences to a land of beauty and enchantment, leaving them uplifted and inspired.
The performances combine ancient technique with modern technology. Involving hundreds of talented dancers and musicians, original scores, live orchestra, and custom-designed digital backdrops, these pieces of artistry delight the senses, touch the heart, and move the soul.
This culture renaissance centering on classical themes and Chinese traditions that define "beauty" and "compassion", is to restore the essence of authentic Chinese traditional "virtue" and "value" and bring its true spirit to magnificent life, free of any distortions from the Communist Party. The content of all programs is expressed in Chinese, English, and local languages.
In 2008 Divine Performing Arts dazzled over 600,000 live audience members in more than 60 cities on four continents, including 12,000 at San Francisco's Orpheum Theatre. The Chinese New Year Spectacular returns to San Francisco's Opera House (Jan. 7-11, 2009) and to Cupertino's Flint Center (Jan. 13-15, 2009).
