The Post Modern American Pilipino Performance Project (POMO) an extraordinary selection of cutting-edge theatre, music & dance artists for its 10th anniversary show.
Kularts celebrates the 10th Anniversary of its Post Modern American Pilipino Performance Project (POMO), presenting bold performances by an extraordinary selection of cutting edge Pilipino American artists. POMO 2008 will feature Ron Quesada’s KULINTRONICA, a multi-instrumental experience of fast and lyrical kulintang gong playing, layered with the industrial sounds of electronica, tempered by Philippine guitars and Hawaiian ukulele; SF-based poetic writer/performer Irene Faye Duller presents How to Skywalk with Alitaptap, a performance lit rendering of ancestral home-coming and the clash of neo-tribal fantasies with the realities of the homeland, directed by Alleluia Panis; Brother’s Keeper presents The Renaissance, hip-hop theater and Philippine Martial Arts bristling with volatility as four half-brothers reminisce and mourn the passing of their father, directed by Marc Bamuthi Joseph; and The Fides Enriquez Dance Collective premieres two original dance-theater works exploring love, tragedy, transcendence, in Isagani at Candida (Isagani and Candida) and the zesty comic flair of a laundry woman, Ms. Perla as she basks in the playful luxuriance of a borrowed formal gown in Ang Labada ni Aling Perla (Ms. Perla’s Laundry).
