The Missing Peace: Artists Consider the Dalai Lama comes to San Francisco with a gala opening on Thursday, November 29, 2007, 6:30 p.m. at Yerba Buena Center for the Arts.
Sharon Stone is Master of Ceremonies for the evening, which includes cocktails, a private exhibition preview, dinner and entertainment. Tickets are $350/per person and proceeds benefit The Missing Peace. Two Compassion in Action Awards will be presented at the event: Founders Cecil Williams and Janie Mirikitani will accept an award for Glide Memorial Church in recognition of its work serving the indigent, the homeless, recovering addicts, the mentally ill, among others, for more than fifty years; and Michael Green, Executive Director of the Center for Environmental Health will receive an award in recognition for his work as a tireless advocate for environmental and physical health, especially for children. Sponsored by The Missing Peace, the Compassion in Action Award is given to individuals and organizations who embody pure motivation and compassionate concern for the well-being of others, world peace, ecology, and global responsibility.
