Scotti Campana

Scotti Campana is the owner of Rival Records, which is located in Lorain, OH. Rival isn't just a rap label: Section 8, Danny, Bobby, and Dave Tolliver (Rival artists) are not about to bust out in rhyme. Endo and S.O.S.C. are the label's only rappers (so far). Campana, Born July 26, 1968, was bent on establishing the little industrial town west of Cleveland musically. His parents, Patsie and Jenee, raised Campana lavishly, upper middle-class. His dad founded P.C. Campana Inc., a steel company, so Campana never had to submit resuméand pound doors for a gig -- the family business provided all the income he needed. But he wasn't handed cushy jobs by his dad at the family's steel mill, he worked there for ten years doing everything from mill rat to administration and sales.A passionate music lover, Campana always wanted to own a record company, and the entrepreneurs (Master P, Baby Face, L. A. Reid, and Russell Simmons) were inspirations. If they could achieve fame and wealth beginning from a smaller financial base, he could surely do the same with more money. Campana's dream became reality November 17, 1997, when he opened the doors to Rival Records. The first project was Men at Large's third album, the first without Gerald Levert's involvement, and with Dave Tolliver singing with a new partner. It never got off the ground and the new Men at Large disbanded. Tolliver now sings solo for Rival and a new CD is forthcoming. Equipment-wise, Rival is greased. Like King Records -- the old Cincinnati label that spawned James Brown, Hank Ballard, and others -- everything's done in-house.
