An above-average Chicago soul group who could never get a breakout hit, the Notations recorded for Twinight and Gemigo in the '70s. Both "I'm Still Here" and "It Only Hurts for a Little While" were nice heartache tunes, but were only Top 30 hits. The lineup included Clifford Curry, LaSalle Matthews, Bobby Thomas, and Jimmy Stroud. They began on Tad in the late '60s. Walter Jones replaced Stroud in 1973, then departed in 1976. Curry went on to score solo success with "She Shot a Hole in My Soul." ~ Ron Wynn, All Music Guide
