Former New York City Mayor (1978-1989) Ed Koch is combative, funny, and blunt. He is also intensely private. In Koch, we get an intimate portrait of the 86-year old “quintessential New Yorker,” along with a history of a city on the precipice. This documentary confronts the most gut-wrenching issues we face as a country—race, homelessness, and gay rights—while revealing the personal toll of being a mayor of a great city.
