Jenna (Keri Russell) works in a diner in a small Southern town and is a genius at creating luscious desserts, but her marriage to an overbearing lout (Jeremy Sisto) makes happiness impossible. When she discovers she is pregnant, she makes plans to skip town before her condition is obvious. If every waitress worked as hard at being liked as the movie "Waitress," we would all be 30 percent tippers, and probably up to our double-chins in Mermaid Marshmallow pie. "Waitress" is comedy comfort food: its story is high in sugar content, its characters low in starch.The movie is a cream pie that hardens your arteries as it softens your heart, while somehow managing to bypass your brain almost entirely.
