David Cronin was born in San Francisco and received his first guitar at age 16. He studied music at the college level. For two years he was MC of the invitational open mics at La Val's in Berkeley, where he performed with artists who have gone on to national recognition such as folk troubador Chuck Brodsky and Grammy winner Shawn Colvin. In 1977 David moved to the woods of Mendocino County. During the next 12 years he directed music in public and private schools in Ukiah. He also conducted workshops on spoken word performance, including storytelling and poetry. He played guitar as a solo act and as a member of a number of bands. His group, the Jazz Bums, played a wild mix of originals and twisted cover tunes. During this period David wrote a number of the songs that appeared on the first Fender-Cronin CD,"Letting Go Of Gravity."
Jami Fender-Cronin, an eclectic artist, began playing guitar and writing songs at age 9. During her high school years she studied at American Conservatory Theater in San Francisco. She took voice lessons from renowned vocal coach Judy Davis in Berkeley. Ms. Davis has instructed singers as diverse as Barbra Streisand, Mary Martin, and Eddie Money. Jami taught ballet and jazz classes at her mother's school for 20 years. She is assistant choreographer of the Eddie Belasco Musical Theater Company. She has performed with Lareen Fender's The Ballet Joyeaux, John Butterfield's New Urban Dance Company, The Celebration of Life AIDS Benefit and Tony LaRussa's Animal Rescue Fund Benefit. An extravagantly expressive mime, she presented the Shellie Awards (theatrical achievement, Contra Costa County), as Miss Shellie for 14 years. Fulfilling a dream, she now operates her own dance-fitness studio,"Body Wisdom by Jami," in Orinda, CA.
Together Jami and David have forged a clear musical identity as writers and performers . Drawing upon the influences of their parents as well as their own experience, they create songs of beauty and thought-provoking impact. Their latest CD,"A Fine Time Of Life," promises to captivate.
