The Derek Rolando Group captures the roots of Latin music, yet maintains modern styles of Jazz and Rock.
Derek Rolando, percussionist, has been performing for over 30 years. He has played with such greats as Pete Escovedo, Ray Obiedo. Quicksilver, as well as members of Santana.
David K. Mathews, keyboardist, has been the bandleader with legendary Blues vocalist Etta James over the last several years. He has also performed with Bozz Skaggs, as well as Pete Escovedo, Tower of Power and Maria Muldaur.
David Belove, bassist, has performed and recorded with Danilo Perez, Tito Puente, Eddie Harris, Mark Levine , Larry Coryell, Pat Methany, Max Roach and Dizzy Gillespie.
He is part of the faculty at Berkeley's Jazzschool and an accomplished photographer.
Paul VenWagenegen, drummer, performs regularly with John Santos and Machete, as well as Pete Escovedo. He is one of the most sought after drummers in the Bay Area.
