The Power of Remembrance: Japanese American Imprisonment & Resettlement: An Afternoon of Stories with Brian Dempster and Others
Saturday, May 26, 2012 1:30p
Foster City Library
Foster City,
CA
In the early days of WW II, over 110,000 persons of Japanese ancestry were removed from their homes along the West Coast and imprisoned in camps. When they were finally allowed to leave, a new challenge faced them—how do you resume a life so interrupted?
Japanese Americans will share their accounts, reading from their work in the book “Making Home from War” and a related project. Participants include: Mary Ann Furuichi, Kazuko Iwahashi, Toru Saito, Taeko Ishida Abramson, and Brian Dempster.
