Joe Lasqo's music is woven from three strands: Indian classical music, modernist jazz, and "Stockhausen meets the sound of one hand clapping" (encounters with electronics and extensions of Japanese, Chinese and Korean music). He's come to this music via a path from classical music in South India, jazz studies in smoke-filled bars, and computer music studies at MIT, Columbia, and Berkeley CNMAT. In the second set, Steve Adams of ROVA Saxophone Quartet will join Joe for a series of avant duets.
