X v. Y Series Plays the Music of Paul Motian @ Berkeley Arts

XvY: pitting the hearts and minds of Bay Area musicians against the legacies of legends. Enterprising locals offer original music and interpret the music of a master, to interesting results. The 2nd edition of XvY features reedman Michael J. Dale and percussionist Jordan Glenn. Joining them will be ROVA saxophonist Steve Adams, Karl Evangelista, and itinerant poet Jim Ryan. On tap: the savage, beautiful music of Keith Jarrett's American Quartet and some of Paul Motian's most haunting melodies.
