Lisa Reinertson/Lee Wilder Snider 'Life On Earth"

Gallery 621 in Benicia presents two bay area artists, LISA REINERTSON, sculptor, and LEE WILDER SNIDER, painter in the exhibition "Life On Earth".

LISA REINERTSON is nationally known both for her life size figurative ceramic sculptures and her large-scale public sculptures cast in bronze. Reinertson has created artwork that conveys an underlying humanism and concern for the earth that can be seen both in her poetic ceramic figures… Show more with animals, to her more historic public commissions that express ideals of peace and social justice. Her work combines a realism rooted in figurative art traditions, with a contemporary expression of social and psychological content.

Reinertson completed her MFA at UC Davis in 1984, studying with Robert Arneson, and Manuel Neri. Her ceramic work has been in exhibitions and museums nationally and internationally and has completed over 20 public commissions in bronze including sculpture memorials of Martin Luther King and Cesar Chavez.

Reinertson currently works from her studio in Benicia and teaches at the San Francisco Art Institute.

LEE WILDER SNIDER says of her paintings, "Whether rendering dusk on a marsh, back-light through trees or strip-mining in a rain forest, I work to reflect both the beauty and vulnerability of our world. I find awe and wonder can be experienced in the complexity of something as simple as a stone or a moment's view. My hope is to reveal the extraordinary in the ordinary and transport viewers to that still place inside us that is all too often lost in the hustle and bustle of daily life."


Wilder Snider studied visual arts at U.C. Berkeley, received a M.S. degree from the University of Washington and a Teaching Credential in the Visual Arts from Southern Utah State University. Her work has been exhibited in galleries in California, the Pacific Northwest, and Utah, and currently shows at Gallery 621 and Arts Benicia. She has also served as set designer and a scenic painter for 17 theater productions as varied as Imaginary Invalid and Oliver. She has completed nine public art commissions, all of which celebrate life on earth.
